Hi, I'm Dee — educator, Montessori guide, mom, and founder of Literacy Pod Tutoring.
With more than 10 years of experience supporting children from Kindergarten through Grade 6, I am passionate about helping young learners build strong literacy skills and confidence. For the past four years, I have taught Montessori Kindergarten and Creative Arts with Saskatoon Public Schools, where I have had the opportunity to help many children develop independence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Literacy has always been the subject I am most passionate about teaching. Watching a child gain confidence as they learn to read, write, and express themselves is one of the most rewarding parts of being an educator, and it is at the heart of everything we do at Literacy Pod Tutoring.
I am a SUNTEP graduate with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan and hold a MACTE-accredited Montessori diploma. Through my experience in both traditional and Montessori classrooms, I have seen how powerful hands-on, child-centred learning can be, especially when building strong literacy foundations. I also have extensive experience supporting neurodiverse learners and believe children thrive when they are given choice, time, and learning experiences that honour their individual strengths and needs.
Becoming a mom deepened my understanding of what truly matters in education: patience, connection, and allowing children the space to grow in their own time. It inspired me to create Literacy Pod Tutoring—a calm and welcoming space where families feel valued, supported, and cared for.
My goal is simple: to help children build strong literacy foundations, develop confidence, and discover a genuine love of learning.

Please let me introduce myself, I’m Kathryn, a mom to two wonderful daughters (ages 5 and 2) and an educator with over 10 years of experience supporting children and families.
I currently work as a resource teacher and have had the privilege of working with students from Kindergarten/Casa through Grade 8 in both traditional and Montessori settings. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education, a Post-Degree Certificate in Educational Psychology and Special Education, and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and Special Education.
Throughout my career, I have supported children with a wide range of strengths and learning needs. Over time, I have become especially passionate about supporting and advocating for neurodivergent learners. More recently, I have also gained the perspective of a parent advocate after my oldest daughter was diagnosed with Autism Level 1 with a PDA profile and ADHD.
Early literacy has always been a particular passion of mine. Through working closely with Montessori educators and having my own children attend Montessori preschool, I have grown to appreciate the power of hands-on, practical language learning. I have seen incredible growth in both my daughters and young learners when literacy is taught through meaningful, engaging experiences.
Over the years, I have seen learning gaps grow for many children, even with the best efforts happening in classrooms. I began to feel there was a need for an approach that slows down, meets children where they are, honours their unique learning styles, and builds skills through evidence-based, hands-on instruction.
After seeing the impact that meaningful materials and engaging literacy experiences can have on confidence and success, I was excited to join Dee in helping young learners build strong literacy foundations. Together, we are committed to creating supportive learning experiences that foster growth, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
I look forward to helping children develop strong literacy skills while building confidence, independence, and a love of reading as part of the Literacy Pod community.
