How we help
Literacy Pod Tutoring provides targeted literacy support for children ages 4 and up. We meet children where they are, identify the skills they are ready to strengthen, and provide explicit instruction with plenty of opportunities to practise through hands on materials, movement and meaningful literacy experiences.
Our approach is influenced by both Montessori education and current reading research. This means children receive structured, evidence informed literacy instruction in an environment that also values independence, choice and learning through purposeful hands on work.
Unique Literacy Support
Early Learners
We support preschool-aged children using a sensorial Montessori approach.
The goal is to create a thoughtfully curated space where children can explore letter sounds and symbols through hands-on, tactile materials, building strong early connections to language and preparing them for Kindergarten.
Older Learners
For older children, we help fill gaps and shift our focus on strengthening foundational writing and reading skills such as phonics, blending, and fluency.
Each child is thoughtfully assessed and placed into a small group based on their current skill level, allowing for personalised, meaningful instruction.
Small Group Learning
Our small-group setting allows for individualised attention within a supportive and collaborative environment, ensuring each child receives the specific guidance they need to thrive.
This personalised approach fosters deeper understanding and greater confidence.
Supplementing the Learning Day
Our tutoring is designed to supplement your child’s learning by providing additional, targeted literacy instruction alongside the learning already happening at school.
Sessions are intentionally offered after lunch and toward the end of the school day. For some families, this might mean incorporating tutoring into a homeschool day. For others, it might mean arranging an early school pickup or choosing a regular afternoon that works for their family.
In our intentionally small pods, children receive focused instruction based on their literacy needs, giving them another opportunity in their week to build skills through explicit instruction, hands on learning, movement and meaningful practice.
By making tutoring part of the learning day, children can receive additional literacy support without extending their day with more structured learning after school, in the evenings or on weekends. Our goal is for tutoring to complement what is already happening at school while providing dedicated time to strengthen the skills each child needs.
Montessori experience is not required!
While we use a Montessori approach to teaching literacy skills, every child is welcome here. Maybe your child hasn't made much progress with the traditional approach to reading and writing? Why not try something new?
We combine Montessori-aligned literacy instruction with hands-on learning through personalized small-group sessions that help children grow in confidence, skill, and independence.
