Helping Literacy Take Root

Personalized literacy tutoring in Saskatoon using hands-on, Montessori-aligned instruction led by trusted and experienced educators.

At Literacy Pod Tutoring, we provide neurodiversity-affirming, individualized learning support that recognizes that children learn in different ways. We combine explicit, evidence-informed literacy instruction with hands-on Montessori learning experiences to build skills, independence, and confidence.

Our preferred tutoring model is our small-group literacy “pods,” where learners can strengthen reading, writing, spelling, and foundational literacy skills alongside peers. We also offer 1:1 tutoring on a case-by-case basis, as well as homeschool support and educational consulting.

Ages 4 and up.

Montessori experience is NOT required!

Why Literacy Pods?

At Literacy Pod Tutoring, we believe there is real value in children learning with and alongside one another.

Literacy Pod Tutoring grew from my experience teaching Montessori language over the past four years, coupled with years of traditional teaching and a passion for early literacy. With the Montessori approach, year after year, I watched children become readers and writers, build independence, and leave kindergarten with strong literacy foundations for what came next. Just as importantly, I saw how much learning happened between and alongside children. They watched one another, shared what they knew, worked through challenges together, and learned that they didn’t always need an adult beside them to be successful.

I also saw firsthand that learning doesn’t need to happen only while sitting at a table. Children are capable of moving around the room, working on the floor, using hands-on materials, and changing where or how they work while still listening, thinking, and learning. Movement doesn’t have to interrupt learning. It can be part of it.

Those experiences became a big part of the idea behind Literacy Pods.

Our pods are intentionally small and thoughtfully matched, with a maximum of four learners. Children don’t need to be working on exactly the same thing at exactly the same time. We can provide targeted instruction based on each learner’s needs while still creating opportunities for movement, independence, collaboration, and learning from one another.

It’s a different approach to tutoring where children receive the support they need from their educator while also having opportunities to move, explore, work independently, and experience everything they can learn from each other.
